Throughout his Broadcast and Production career,
Michael has been awarded 7 Clio Awards, a Belding, and
the first Peabody Award ever given to a radio station, as
well as 28 Gold and Platinum records.
Since 1990, he has earned 10 Gold Medals
from the prestigious
Promax and New York International Radio Festivals, including
the 1994 “Best of Show” Grand Award over 1,380 entries from
29 nations.

In
1997, Michael and production partner, Groove Addicts, were
presented with a Gold Medal at the Promax Awards and
a World Medal at the New York International Radio Festivals for their sound
design for the BBC’s Radio One Network, London.
In
1998, the team was awarded another Promax Gold for “Jingle Package
of the Year” for Smooth Jazz WVMV, Detroit V 98.7.
1999 made it 3 in a row, earning the duo another Promax “Jingle
Package of the Year” for Smooth Jazz KTWV Los Angeles The Wave.
His national voice-over work
has included McDonalds, Shell Oil, Goodyear, NBC, the Playboy
Channel, the Disney Channel, Warner
Brothers
Records and more.
Production clients include: ABC, BBC, CBS, NBC, UPN, Fox TV,
Disney, the Family Channel, TV One (Belgium), Rick Dees, American Top 40, American Country
Countdown, Warner Brother s Records, Zebra Records, Esquire, Magazine, Mad
Magazine, plus major music producers Groove Addicts, Who Did That Music?, Music
Inc., Lubinsky/Romeo Music and many more.
Early in his career, Michael traveled the airwaves from
Houston to Honolulu eventually settling at soft rock pioneer KNX FM Los
Angeles in 1976, where he served as Air Personality, Music Director and
ultimately, Program Director.

Leaving the station in 1983, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of
building and operating his own recording studio, creating both music and
commercial production.
In 1985, Michael was asked to develop a broadcast division for
HLC/Killer Music, a respected music
production company best known for their work with Levis 501 Blues, Gatorade and Wheaties. The HLC/Killer
Music Broadcast Division soon earned a
reputation as one of the country's premier broadcast jingle outlets.
Within
4 years, Michael became VP/GM and Producer for the most ambitious
project in HLC’s history, Killer Tracks, a 40 CD Production
Music Library. A success, the library continues to serve as a
favorite means
of source music worldwide.
In
1990, Michael joined the original innovators of Smooth Jazz, KTWV Los Angeles The Wave,
heading up their creative/production department. Over the past few
years, he has created a number of syndicated and custom Smooth Jazz
jingle packages, featuring major artists of the genre.
In addition to his Smooth Jazz work, news station KFWB Los
Angeles has used Sheehy-produced bumpers, themes, and jingles for the past 15
years.
While
at
The Wave, Michael also produced and
hosted the televised country music video show
“America’s New
Country”, which aired in over 1 00 markets from 1991 - 1994.
Additionally, his Western and Western Swing compilations are
featured at the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
Museum.
Throughout the course of his career, Michael has been a guest
speaker at many colleges including
UCLA, USC, Pepperdine,
Loyola, California State Universities
at Los Angeles, San Francisco, and
Sacramento,
the Academy of Radio
Broadcasting
and a good number
of Sushi bars. |
